In July 2016, CADS (Chaldon Amateur Dramatic Society) staged a production of two one-act comedy plays ‘What’s For Pudding?’ by David Tristram and ‘Easy Stages’ by Nick Warburton in Chaldon Village Hall. CADS, which was revamped in 2013, is an inclusive and intergenerational organisation that brings together the people of Chaldon and the surrounding areas to stage productions including a biennial pantomime, whilst having a great laugh - and this production was no exception. Local thespians took to the stage and could have sent some of their audience along to Caterham Dene Hospital for stiches due to laughter! Therefore, it seemed only fitting to donate the proceeds of the raffle held at this event to this local Hospital – a wonderful amenity for the local area. Jean Baker, chair of the League of Friends was delighted to accept the cheque for £150.89 on Friday 23rd September from Jill Cannon, Consort to the Chairman of Tandridge District Council and an avid supporter of CADS. The League of Friends Shop opened at Caterham Dene Hospital on 23rd April 2016 and the profits from their shop are used to buy equipment and medical appliances for the hospital. They also provide essential toiletries to in-patients and little luxuries such as patient slippers, post-op socks and presents at Christmas. The shop is open daily from 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 4pm and is run entirely by volunteers. CADS were delighted to be able to support the League of Friends with this donation.

We are always pleased to support local charities, with our past productions supporting: Arts 4 Dementia, Momentum Children's Cancer Charity and The Legrew Memorial Charity to name a few.

We are on the look out for new members to join our fun and friendly society. If you would like to get involved, treading the boards, behind the scenes or even as a member of the audience, please visit:www.chaldonamdram.co.uk
